Bounced, Active and Unsubscribed Contacts

Lead Liaison keeps track of a prospect's "Activity Status" as Bounced, Active or Unsubscribed. See the screen shot below for an example. Within Lead Liaison you can see this functionality within an Email List or within the list of Contacts. Do the following to check Activity Status:

  1. At the contact level: Click Content > Emails > Contacts > View All Contacts
  2. At the contact list level: Click Content > Emails > Email Lists and click the View Contacts link next to the Email List you're drilling down into.

Here are the definitions of each Activity Status type:

  • Bounced = The prospects email address has bounced.
  • Active = The prospects email address is valid.
  • Unsubscribed = Only visible at the contact list level and shows the prospect has unsubscribed from the respective contact list.

There are a few additional highlights to be aware of when managing your lists:

  1. The same contact can be stored in multiple contact lists. Lead Liaison will send an email message only one time to the contact regardless of how many times the contact is in your list.
  2. The Unsubscribed value is per Contact List. For example, there could be Contact List #1 and Contact List #2. Contact List #1 could have John Smith with Activity Status = Active while Contact List #2 could have John Smith with Activity Status = Unsubscribed. If an email is sent to Contact List #1 then John will get the email. However, if an email is sent to Contact List #2 then John will not get the email because his status is Unsubscribed.

titleGlobal Unsubscribe

When a contact chooses to globally unsubscribe from your email communication Lead Liaison will automatically set the Do Not Email field to Yes (True). When this happens the contact is added to a Global Suppression List for your account where they will never be emailed again.

Bounced Contacts

When sending your emails through Lead Liaison we automatically process all bounced emails. Any bounced emails will go to that email address. They will remain in this email account until processed. Bounced emails are typically processed every hour.

Run the automation only once when you're ready to update Bounce and/or Do Not Email status:

Finding Unsubscribed Contacts

To view unsubscribed contacts:

  1. Go to Content > Emails > Contacts > Search Contacts in the menu,
  2. Choose "View specific contacts from within the selected lists below",
  3. Select the list you want and click Next, and
  4. Choose the Activity Status "Unsubscribed" and click Next.

You should now be presented with all of the unsubscribed contacts of the lists you selected. You can click 'Edit' for a contact and set their Activity Status to "Active" again.

There is no way to set the Activity Status of contacts en masse. Generally there is a very good reason why a contact is labelled as unsubscribed or bounced, and changing this manually could result in our server being blacklisted.
